Bone broth is becoming more and more popular as we are getting to know more about the health benefits it has for us.But what is Bone Broth?
According to Wikipedia: Broth is a savory liquid made of water in which bones, meat, fish, or vegetables have been simmered. It can be eaten alone, but is most commonly used to prepare other dishes such as soups, gravies, and sauces.
So in other words, bone broth are bones from beef, chicken or fish that have been simmered for at least 12 hours. For additional flavor, vegetables and seasonings are added. It ends up looking like regular vegetable, beef or chicken stock. The only difference is that when the bone broth is cooled, it becomes a tiny bit firm due to the presence of naturally occurring gelatin.
Bone broth can be used as food or as medicine. We can go back all the way to the ancient history where traces of gelatin were even found in a Pharaoh’s grave.
